Welcome to PrayDawson
In November of 2008, Christians across Dawsonville and Dawson County, Georgia began coming together to begin a prayer initiative for the needs of our local community.
The purpose of PrayDawson is for the Christian community that lives and works in Dawsonville and the surrounding Dawson County to come together across denominational lines to pray for the needs of Dawson County and the city of Dawsonville, asking for God’s intervention here.
This prayer gathering is non-denominational, open to all Christians. It takes place on the third Tuesday of each month from 12 Noon to 1 PM inside of City Hall in the City Council meeting room next to the Mayor’s office.
You are invited to join us and tell others about this meeting. Be sure to mark your calendar for the third Tuesday of each month as a personal reminder.
Who should attend?
Business leaders, governmental leaders, workplace men and women, local church and vocational ministry leaders, intercessors – all who desire to see the city of Dawsonville and Dawson County positively impacted for Jesus Christ. We hope to see you there. Come for the entire hour or a few minutes during your lunch hour.
Intercession
In every city in which transformation has taken place, believers have come together to pray for their city. Prayer changes the spiritual climate of a city. Some of the main areas of influence that must be the focus of our prayers include churches, businesses, the legal, political, educational and medical fields, and the media/entertainment industry. “If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My Face, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14).
Pastors
The spiritual lifeblood of a city can be seen by the unity or lack thereof within a city. John 17:23 tells us that in order for Jesus to move powerfully in a city, there must be unity among the spiritual leaders in that city. Consequently, it is vitally important for churches to recognize that a city will never be impacted for Christ if they do not relate to other spiritual leaders in that city. Meeting together and praying for the needs of the city is important to seeing the spiritual climate of a city change. When church leaders begin praying together for the city, things begin to change in that city.
Workplace Leaders
If we are going to see transformation in Dawson County, it will happen when leaders in business, government, and education begin to see their work as a means of reflecting God’s presence in these places. Helping our workplace leaders understand and be equipped to impact their spheres of influence is vital to seeing transformation. However, this must take place through relationships between intercessors and church leaders in the city. Workplace leaders are key because they hold places of authority in a city that can really make needed changes in the power structures of a city.
